Do you Have a Super Bowl Winning Portfolio?

The fall season is upon us, which means that America’s biggest sport is back. I’m talking about football, of course! It’s a time for friends, family, and co-workers to get together and debate about their favorite teams and who will eventually be crowned Super Bowl Champion. However, even the most loyal fan usually has a realistic idea of how their team will do simply based on the roster.

Whether you’re the GM of an NFL franchise or the owner of your fantasy football team, picking the right players can be just as important as avoiding the wrong players when trying to make a championship run. The same can be said about your investment portfolio.

“Fielding” a Super Bowl Portfolio

Just as coaches evaluate the pool of players during training camp to ensure they are putting together the best 53 man roster, an integral part of our investment discipline is our screening process. We diligently screen thousands of mutual funds and ETFs to not only make sure that we are starting the best “players,” but also benching the ones that haven’t been performing well.

Being able to analyze and adjust your investment lineup allows for flexibility and creates the ability to maximize efficiency in your portfolio. Imagine if the head coach of your favorite NFL team had to use the same exact lineup for the entire season and never made substitutions, even if a player had sustained an injury or consistently played poorly. The results would likely be the same as a “set it and forget it” investment portfolio where managers aren’t actively making adjustments and funds that perform inadequately don’t get filtered out. Just as it would lead to underperformance on the football field, the same result can be expected in your investment portfolio.

How We Can Help

As a fiduciary, we are required to do what is in our clients’ best interests, including employing the best investments to meet their objectives. Our screening process identifies the top rated Morningstar ETFs and mutual funds which have a track record of outperforming other assets in their category and providing alpha in portfolios. By actively managing your portfolio and making the adjustments to ensure your portfolio is built for top performance in the prevailing economic climate, you can be sure you have a “team” you can proudly cheer for all season long!
